THERAPEUTIC STYLE
My goal is to inspire change in your life by exploring the learning path for personal growth. In addition to analyzing and identifying problems, I focus on building your strengths; in collaborating to unlock the power you already have, but can’t currently access. Together we will explore solutions that are effective and achievable. I have a warm and engaging style of working and an important ability to connect with my clients in a way that allows you to make the positive changes that you want. I listen compassionately and respectfully, providing a safe space for each person’s unique obstacles to be heard, and work accordingly with each individual’s own strengths and preferences.
BACKGROUND
I earned my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and in Exceptional Student Education from Barry University. Prior to this, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts from New World school of the Arts. After completing my second masters’ program, I enrolled in the American Dance Movement Therapy Association Alternate Route Program earning their National Registry. After seven years as a professional Dance Movement Therapist, I became a Board Certified Dance Movement Therapist offering private counseling, as well as group sessions and workshops.
I worked as the Life Management Therapist for a renowned integrative health and wellness center in Miami Beach, where I conducted individual, couples and family psychotherapy for brief and long-term clients, facilitated weekly psycho-educational lectures and collaborated with other health practitioners in Guest Health Packages including Stress Management, Optimal Wellness, Men’s & Women’s Health, and Executive Health.
I have also worked as a Mental Health Counselor and Social Skills Director at a private school, where I provided intervention and preventative counseling services to individual students, groups, and parents. I developed, implemented and led social skills and dance movement therapy groups for first to sixth grades students. I also consulted with the Head of School in the creation of in-service professional development for our faculty as a means of teaching our professionals to better teach the “whole child”.
In addition to my private practice, I have been a guest speaker for various national and international organizations, conducting lectures and workshops in private and social settings.
